10th Edition Mafutseni Cycle Classic 2018
The 10th edition of the annual Dups-United Mafutseni Cycle Classic 2018 was held to overwhelming success on Sunday 20th May 2018 at the Mafutseni Total Filling Station.
The Event saw attendance from all cycling teams in Swaziland and also saw the newest and trendy cycling club Ekhaya Cycling Club debuting at the race this year. There was also participants from the region including South African teams, Mozambican Teams amongst others.
The growth of the event also saw the dignitaries grow in number as His Royal Highness Prince Sicalo graced the event accompanied by The Deputy Prime Minister His Excellency Paul Dlamini, The Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Cruiser Ngcamphalala, The Minister of Tourism Jabulani Gamedze amongst other sporting personnel in the event.
In making her remarks, the Executive Chairman of Dups Holdings and United Holdings Mrs Nelisiwe DeSousa appreciated the support this event has gotten from the cycling fraternity. She said the support has rubbed on well with aspirations of the group and as such the birth of United Holdings has been made possible. The community of Mafutseni shall reap benefits from hosting such an event as the company is committed to assisting it with social projects, annually to make this a sustainable relationship.
The Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs appreciated the contribution United Holdings has made in building the cycling sport in Swaziland and hoped that this continues even beyond the current government.
The event was attended by close to 200 cyclist from the SADC region. The community showed appreciation of the event as about 50 memebers joioned in watching the cyclists compete in the race.
